After my breast cancer journey and radiation, I became even more intentional about supporting my body's natural detoxification pathways — especially my liver and kidneys.

These two organs work tirelessly, quietly, every single day. They ask very little and give everything. And yet most of us spend more time thinking about what to put on our skin than what we put into the body that sustains us.

The liver alone performs over 500 functions every single day.

It filters toxins. Processes hormones. Regulates cholesterol. Stores vitamins. Supports metabolism. Produces bile. It is one of the most intelligent, regenerative organs in the human body — and it is working for you right now, in this moment, whether or not you've given it what it needs to thrive.

That question — are you giving it what it needs to thrive? — is one I return to often. It's the question that brought me back to plants. To roots. To ancestral medicine that has been tending to bodies like ours for centuries.


Why I Return to This Juice

One of the juices I come back to again and again is what I call the Geogenetic Green Juice — inspired by a recipe from Dr. Sebi's student, Dr. Yaki Awakened. I've personalized it over time, deepening it with ingredients that speak directly to the work my body has been doing. I often add bitter melon for additional metabolic and liver support.

I don't believe the body is broken.

I believe the body is intelligent.

When given the right environment — the right nutrients, minerals, hydration, rest, and support — it knows how to repair, cleanse, and restore itself. This juice is one of my favorite ways to nourish those pathways.

What's In It & Why Each Ingredient Matters

This isn't just a green juice. Every ingredient was chosen with intention — selected for its specific affinity with the liver, kidneys, circulation, and cellular health.

🍎 Green Apples

Rich in pectin, polyphenols, and antioxidants that support healthy digestion, blood sugar balance, and toxin elimination through the digestive tract. They also provide the gentle sweetness that makes this juice approachable without spiking blood sugar.

🥒 Cucumber

Hydrating and mineral-rich. Supports kidney function, helps flush excess waste, and provides silica for connective tissue health. Think of it as the gentle river that carries everything out.

🌿 Celery (with leaves)

🥬 Bitter Melon (optional — but highly recommended)

Supports healthy blood sugar regulation, liver function, insulin sensitivity, and metabolic health. It has been used in traditional medicine systems for centuries across Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean. It is bitter for a reason — bitterness is a signal to the liver to wake up and work.


The Recipe

Makes: 1 large glass or 2 smaller servings Best enjoyed: On an empty stomach, first thing in the morning

Ingredients

  • 7 green apples
  • 1 stalk celery with leaves
  • A pinch of cilantro
  • A handful of parsley
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 thumb ginger, skinned
  • 2 cucumbers, peeled
  • 1 whole lemon, with skin
  • 1–2 pieces bitter melon (optional but recommended)
  • 1 bunch dandelion root

How to Make It

Step 1 — Wash. Wash all produce thoroughly. If you can source organic, this juice is worth it.

Step 2 — Juice. Run all ingredients through your juicer slowly, allowing maximum extraction. Alternate the leafy herbs with harder produce to ensure nothing is wasted.

Step 3 — Stir & Enjoy. Stir well immediately before drinking, as the herbs and heavier elements will settle. Drink right away for maximum nourishment — this juice is most potent fresh.

Ritual Tip: Drink this on an empty stomach first thing in the morning, before coffee, before food, before you speak to anyone. Give your body the first word. Sit with it. Notice how you feel over the following hour — many people report increased clarity, energy, and a sense of internal ease.
